Japan Earthquake/Tsunami Relief - How You Can Help!
To date Office of Radio & Television and WJMJ viewers and listeners have contributed over $20,000 toward the Japan Earthquake/Tsunami Relief efforts. Thank you!
We offer them not only our prayers but our financial support to help them rebuild their lives. We who believe in the Lord Jesus and have been personally touched by His caring presence in our lives are now given an opportunity to make Him present through our care for others. There are countless victims of this horrible tragedy – lives lost, those still missing, people left homeless, children orphaned, material possessions gone and people left hungry trying to fight off disease. We must help! We will help!

Catholic Relief Services is working with Caritas International and others to find pathways to bring aid to the many thousands stricken by the earthquake and tsunami.
Caritas Japan is providing emergency relief to survivors of this disaster. Workers are opening shelters for evacuees from Sendai, which received extensive tsunami damage, and from Fukushima, the site of failing nuclear reactors. Caritas Japan is also distributing much-needed supplies, such as blankets. And some parishes in the Diocese of Sendai have indicated they are ready to host relief volunteers from other parts of the country.
Long-term recovery, though, will require that Caritas Japan play a much larger role. In a recent statement, Caritas Japan says that the damage is not only physical but also psychological: “We will accompany people who lost their beloved [ones], who lost everything and may stay at temporary shelters, and who have no one to rely on.”
“I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink.” I was a victim of the earthquake and tsunami disaster and you helped me rebuild my life. [Read Matthew 26:31-46]
